660 MW Wind Power Projects to Start Operating by December 2021

Around 11 wind projects with a cumulative capacity of 660MW have achieved their financial closing and are likely to start their commercial operations by December 2021.

These projects include

  • 50MW Master Green Energy Ltd,
  • 50MW Tricom Wind Power Pvt Ltd,
  • 50MW Lakeside Energy Pvt Ltd,
  • 50MW Artistic Wind Power Ltd
  • 50MW Liberty Wind Power 1 Pvt Ltd.
  • 50MW Indus Wind Energy Ltd,
  • 50MW Master Green Energy Ltd,
  • 50MW ACT2 Wind Pvt Ltd,
  • 50MW Liberty Wind Power 2 Pvt Ltd,
  • 60MW Metro Wind Power Ltd,
  • 50MW Masda Green Energy Pvt Ltd,
  • 50MW DIN Energy Ltd
  • 50MW Gul Ahmed Electric Ltd

According to the officials, all these projects are being set up at Jhimpir District Thatta.

Meanwhile, around 24 wind power projects with a cumulative capacity of 1,233.37 MW have achieved commercial operations so far and are supplying electricity to the national grid.

These projects include

  • 49.5MW FFC Energy Limited,
  • 56.4MW Zorlu Enerji Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd,
  • 49.5MW Three Gorges First Wind Farm Pakistan (Pvt) Limited,
  • 50MW each Foundation Wind Energy-I and II Ltd,
  • 52.8MW Sapphire Wind Power Company Ltd,
  • 50MW Yunus Energy Ltd,
  • 50MW Metro Power Company Ltd,
  • 30MW Tapal Wind Energy Pvt Ltd
  • 49.5MW Tenaga Generasi Ltd.
  • Master Wind Energy Pvt Ltd is supplying 52.8MW,
  • Gul Wind Energy Ltd 50MW,
  • Hydro China Dawood Power Pvt Ltd (CPEC) 49.5MW,
  • Sachal Energy Development Pvt Ltd (CPEC) 49.5MW,
  • United Energy Pakistan Pvt Ltd (CPEC) 99MW,
  • Hawa Energy Pvt Ltd 49.737MW,
  • Jhimpir Wind Power Ltd 49.737MW
  • Artistic Energy Pvt Ltd 49.3MW

The Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) has formulated a new Alternative and Renewable Energy Policy (ARE Policy 2019) consequent to the expiry of RE Policy 2006 in March 2018.

The policy aims at creating a conducive environment for the sustainable growth of the ARE sector in Pakistan. The government of Pakistan’s strategic objectives of energy security, economic benefits, environmental protection, sustainable growth, and social equity will further be realized under the ARE Policy 2019.
