The latest social media sensation, Asif Magsi, has been recruited by the Pakistan Army after his series of videos attempting long jumps went viral a few days ago.
Magsi captivated everyone with his long jump over 11 bikes and then over a water canal with the Pakistani flag in his hand. He has even been praised by legendary track and field athlete, Carl Lewis, who said Magsi has the right temperament and attitude to be a good professional athlete.
He has already been contacted by the Pakistan Athletics Federation to train with leading coaches in the country and now reports state that Pakistan Army has also recruited the talented athlete.
ARY reported that Thatta-based Magsi, who is a fisherman by profession, will join the Pakistan Army athletics team instead of training with the Athletics Federation.
Earlier, Athletics Federation’s President, Major General Akram Sahi, said, “I personally contacted Asif and invited him to Lahore where we will polish his skills and make him capable of representing Pakistan at the international level. I have asked our senior and finest coaches to observe him as soon as he reaches Lahore. I hope he will grow up in a sold prospect for Pakistan”.
