Teracube 2e is a $99, Easily Repairable Android Phone With a 4 Year Warranty

Environmentally friendly smartphones with recycled materials and replaceable parts are nothing new, but they are often priced around the mid-range bracket or above. The Teracube 2e is one of those smartphones but is currently going for a crowdfunding price of only $99. Another great thing going for it is the 4-year warranty which is unheard of for smartphones.

As the price tag shows, the Teracube 2e is an entry-level smartphone. It has a 6.1-inch HD+ LCD with a U shaped notch at the top for the front camera. At the back, there is a dual-camera sensor in the upper left corner and a fingerprint sensor in the center. The phone comes with a fully biodegradable case, a replaceable battery, only screws without any glue, and a 4-year warranty.

Internal specifications include the entry-level MediaTek Helio A25 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which is expandable through an SD card. The replaceable battery is a 4,000 mAh power cell, but it lacks support for fast charging.

The primary camera on the rear is a 13MP sensor paired with an additional 8MP camera, the type of lens was not mentioned but we can safely assume it’s a depth sensor since it is only an entry-level device. The selfie camera is an 8MP shooter as well

As for the box, it does not come with a charger, earphones, or any cables since these are “redundant accessories” which “most people already have”. This was done to make the retail box is smaller than other phones to help reduce carbon emissions from shipping. The box is made out of recycled paper and is printed on using only soy ink.

The crowdfunding price of $99 will gradually increase as time goes by, just like all other crowdfunding items. It will eventually reach $120 and so on. The 4-year warranty was limited to customers in the US only, but it is slowly rolling out to other countries across the globe as well.
