PCB Expects Another $25 Million from International TV Rights Sale

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will receive a much-needed influx of money from the sale of its international broadcasting rights. PCB is expected to generate $25 million over the next three years from broadcasting rights.

The last deal of both domestic and international matches was for only $55 million, but the new deal is worth much more than that as PCB is expecting to generate $200 million from domestic arrangements and a further $25 million from international broadcasting rights over the course of the next three years.

PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani talked about how the PCB is going to benefit from such a deal.

“Rather than getting $55 million for four years, we would catch around $225 million for three years. England, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa teams will be visiting Pakistan during this period. Now we are planning to get $70 to $80 million per year rather $12 million per year as was the case during the last three years,” he said.

Mani also discussed about PCB’s vision to popularize domestic cricket in the country, as proven by the recently concluded National T20 Cup. He said that PCB wants every PSL team to have its own huge following and presence across digital media.

He said that six companies have submitted bids for the international rights of Pakistan cricket, the bids would open in the next few days.

Mani also said that PCB is looking to invest in district cricket and all their focus is shifted towards that. He said that PCB has no plans to invest in a new stadium, but if the government desires to build a new stadium in Islamabad, PCB will assist them but cannot guarantee any financial help.
