Samsung Gets a License For Supplying Displays to Huawei

Despite the US sanctions and restrictions, Huawei has been regularly launching new smartphones. Its latest Mate 40 series is one of the best phones on the market right now.

The company has been facing many issues as far as smartphone construction is concerned, mainly due to the lack of parts and materials. However, moving forward, the issue seems to be resolving. Slowly and gradually, companies are being granted licenses to do business with the Chinese smartphone maker.

After AMD and Intel, Samsung has also received a green flag from the US government. According to a recent report by Reuters, Samsung Display, the Korean company’s division that develops display technologies, has been granted a license to continue supplying certain display panel products to Huawei Technologies.

The report does not say whether the company can export its OLED panels to Huawei since other manufacturers in the supply chain will also have to get individual licenses from the US.

Most of the companies that were doing business with Huawei before sanctions have already applied for licenses with the US.

Most likely, other companies will also get licenses in the future. However, forced sanctions have majorly affected the company’s business. It will take time before Huawei can regain its market share.
