Monkey and Snake Dance Banned in Islamabad

The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) has imposed a ban on using monkeys and snakes for commercial purposes. The violators will be fined and sued for using animals to earn money.

According to the IWMB Chairperson, Rina Saeed Khan, this decision has been taken on the directives of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

People will be able to register complaints against the use of monkeys and snakes for entertainment activities on a hotline number and on a Facebook page. Additionally, different teams will conduct patrolling against any kind of violation of the ban.

The ban on using snakes and monkeys for commercial purposes has been placed to end the archaic tradition and eradicate cruelty against animals in the country.

The Chairperson stated that the IWMB had previously imposed a ban on dancing bears. She maintained that animals must not be used for commercial purposes as it is a violation of the Animal Protection Act.
