Ex-Indian Cricketer Slams ICC For Biased Teams of the Decade

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has criticized the selections in ICC Teams of the Decade across all formats and is baffled at how no Pakistani player has made it to any of the three teams selected by ICC. Chopra was highly critical of the T20I Team of the Decade.

Chopra talked about the controversial selections on his YouTube channel. He said that the T20I Team of the Decade does not make any sense to him as a cricketer. He said that how is it possible that ICC selected only three bowlers in the team and did not include either Umar Gul or Saeed Ajmal.

He also criticized the selection of MS Dhoni as the wicket-keeper and captain of the team. He said that Dhoni’s performances in T20 internationals were not that special and given that India did not win a single T20I tournament in the decade, he should not have been selected.

Chopra added that the Test Team of the Decade looks more balanced but it still doesn’t have any Pakistani player in it. He said that Younis Khan with an average of almost 57 had a strong claim to be in the Team of the Decade. He was also shocked at the absence of South African batsman, Hashim Amla.

Chopra also criticized the selections in the ODI Team of the Decade. He said that Mohammad Hafeez should have been considered due to his outstanding all-round performances throughout the decade.

Chopra concluded by saying that the selections in the Teams of the Decade looked biased. He believed that not even one Pakistani among the three teams looks like the selections weren’t made on merit rather out of personal likes and dislikes.
