Tarbela Dam’s Power Generation Reduced to 428 MW

The Tarbela Dam generated only 428 megawatts of electricity on Monday as seven out of seventeen of its power generation units had been working on low capacity and ten of its units had been shut down.

The water inflow in the dam was recorded at 18,500 cusec feet and the outflow was recorded at 35,000 cusecs feet.

It was revealed that 600 cusec feet of water had been released for the Pehur High-Level Canal (PHLC) to supply water to some areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for irrigation purposes.

The water level of the Tarbela Dam reservoir had reduced to 1470.73 feet on Monday and the power generation had reached its lowest level due to the decreased inflow after the reduced temperatures in the upper parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.

In other news, the Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) informed the Standing Committee on Government Assurances that the Mangla Dam will generate 1,310 megawatts of electricity by July because of the increase in its level.
