Moin Khan Finally Speaks Up on Nepotism Debate Around His Son

Former Pakistan captain, Moin Khan, has claimed that his son, Azam Khan, has proved his doubters wrong and he has removed the tag of nepotism through his performances.

Azam rose to prominence in PSL 3 when he was picked up by Quetta Gladiators, the team managed by Moin Khan. Azam was accused of being picked only because of his father and he was ridiculed for his fitness as well.

Over the past year, Azam Khan has put in a lot of hard work, losing a lot of weight, and putting in outstanding performances on the field. Moin feels that Azam’s performances in PSL 5, National T20 Cup, Lanka Premier League, and in the ongoing Pakistan One Day Cup have been exceptional and have silenced his critics.

Moin said that as a father he is proud of his son’s performances, but as a professional cricketer he wants him to maintain the same kind of performances, determination, and attitude.

“I think he has successfully removed the tag of nepotism and poor fitness through his performance,” Moin said.

Azam has been in fine form recently and his performances in T20 cricket have been impressive. It is rumored that Azam is likely to be included in Pakistan’s T20I squad for the series against South Africa as the selectors see him as the ideal power-hitter in the middle-order.

The 22-year old has only played 31 T20s in his short career, scoring 645 runs at an average of 24.80 and a magnificent strike rate of 159.65.
