Sindh Goes Against Federal Govt’s Decision on School Schedule

The Sindh government has opposed the federal government’s decision to reopen schools for regular five to six days classes a week from March 1.

The Sindh Education Minister, Saeed Ghani, while speaking to the media on Sunday, said that the coronavirus cases might have reduced in the country, but the pandemic is not over yet. He reiterated that the provincial government would continue the condition of 50 percent attendance for kids until the pandemic is over.

Ghani said that the federation’s decision has created confusion among young children.

How will children maintain social distancing if we allow 100 percent attendance? Once the pandemic ends, all children will be allowed to go to school.

The provincial minister underscored the need to implement the coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) and urged students to maintain social distancing in the classrooms.

Saeed Ghani maintained that though the federal government has allowed 100 percent attendance across schools, the Sindh Education Department has its steering committee responsible for provincial decisions.

He noted that the decision to reopen schools was made by the steering committee, which now suggests continuing schools on alternative days with 50 percent attendance.

    • kids will maintain social distancing while PPP is calling out parents for long march. does it make sense to you? Its all a drama to oppose fed govt decision.
Another question is that if the schools are made to provide discounts to Parents, ofcourse the utilities bills are lower for schools and maintenance cost has dropped, still the kids are forced to pay full tuition fee.

  • First of all do you know when the pandemic will be over? Do you know the exact date or month or even year…maybe this virus won’t go away ever maybe we have to live with it…then will you not open schools 100% ever…second of all are the SOPs for corona only aplicable to schools…does corona only attck schools…why is everything open and just not schools…just go out see the sitution of markets or restaurnts people are not even wearing a mask and you talk about social distancing…you are just trying to ruin the education system of pakistan

  • This is ridiculous. Thats not fair to the childrens of sindh. You should think on your decision.

  • Well done Sindh Govt for taking a bold stand. It is a relief to parents teachers & children. A very sensible decision.
