The Capital Development Authority (CDA) decided on Monday to build 4,400 low-cost housing units for the impoverished residents of the federal capital.
The Chairman of the CDA, Amer Ali Ahmed, presided over the first meeting of the CDA’s newly-constituted board at its headquarters.
The board decided to construct three roads either through the Ministry of Defence’s Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) or the National Logistics Cell (NLC), and regularize the daily wages and contract employees who are eligible based on the decision of the High Court.

The CDA has resolved to construct affordable apartments in Alipur Farash that will be allotted to the homeless and slum-dwellers and the beneficiaries of Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (NAPHDA) via auction. It will also construct Margalla Avenue, IJP Road, and the proposed 10th Avenue after the approval of the federal cabinet.
Additionally, it will establish the first-ever Metropolitan Police in collaboration with the Islamabad Police to aid citizens and tourists.

The board also approved the long-overdue implementation of the Ghazi-Barotha Project under the Engineering Procurement Construction that had been announced in 2008. The project, which had not advanced beyond the feasibility stage, is aimed at supplying 200 million gallons of water from the Tarbela Dam to Rawalpindi and Islamabad every day.
The attendees agreed to make the already-constructed green restaurant and two café shops and kiosks in the F-9 Park operational.
The meeting was attended by executive members and four private/non-executive members, including famed architect, Nayyar Ali Dada.
