Fact-Finding Report Reveals Who Was Responsible for PSL Cancellation

A two-member fact-finding committee, formed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to investigate the events that led up to the postponement of the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), has submitted their findings to the PCB.

The panel consisting of two disease experts, Syed Faisal Mehmood and Salma Mohammad Abbas, identified the problems and submitted the report to the PCB Chairman, Ehsan Mani. The board will review the report thoroughly before announcing the next step of the procedure.

According to sources, the fact-finding committee believes that there were several lapses from the management and the players that led to the coronavirus entering the bio-secure bubble. They also revealed that the situation could have been avoided if necessary action was taken after the first positive case was reported.

The report revealed, “The players showed carelessness while being in the bio-secure bubble. Initially, due to the soft attitude of the PCB, the players showed negligence.”

“Various private events in the hotel also led to the spread of COVID-19 among participants while franchises also could not fulfill their responsibilities properly,” the report added.

“If steps had been taken after the first positive case, the situation could have been avoided,” the report stated.

The sixth edition of PSL was postponed after at least nine players tested positive for the virus. PCB has announced that PSL 6 would resume, but the dates of the tournament have not been finalized yet.
