PCB Chairman Likely to Face Action From National Assembly

Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ehsan Mani, might be in hot waters, as the National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) is considering taking action against him for missing crucial committee meetings.

According to sources, NA will take action against Mani if he is absent from future meetings.

Mani was once again absent from the latest meeting, which was held in Islamabad on Monday, under the chair of Agha Hassan Baloch. The NA body made it clear after the meeting that they want Mani to attend the meetings to discuss the issues related to cricket.

“We are hopeful that Mani will be there in the next meeting, failing which, the action will be initiated in consultation with the committee’s members, but we expect that he would understand the urgency of the situation,” the NA body said.

PCB’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Salman Naseer, and Col. (R) Mohammad Ashfaq were present in the meeting, where they disclosed that Mani is currently in quarantine, having arrived back to the country from the UK.

They revealed that Mani would attend the meetings once his quarantine period is over and said that he had been attending the sessions virtually.

The members of the committee expressed their displeasure on the repeated absence of Mani and warned of stern action against the chairman if he continues to stay away.

PTI MNA, Nawab Sher Wazir, said that there is no reason for Mani to not be present in the meetings as the rest of the members are also present despite the threat of COVID-19. He added that they attend the meetings because they feel that these discussions are important for the country.
