Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Quetta Gladiators, has suffered another blow as their all-rounder, Anwar Ali, has been ruled out of the remainder of sixth edition of the tournament after returning a positive COVID-19 test.
Earlier, Quetta Gladiators’ fast bowler, Naseem Shah, was ruled out of the tournament for failing to comply with COVID-19 protocols.
Anwar Ali, on the other hand, has been shifted to the isolation facility in Karachi, in the hotel where all the players are staying. He will be required to quarantine for ten days and will only be released after returning two negative results.
Quetta released a statement that confirmed the unfortunate news. The statement read, “The Quetta Gladiators all-rounder, Anwar Ali, has tested positive for COVID-19. He is already in isolation in Karachi.”
Players and staff members of all the franchises are scheduled to fly to Abu Dhabi on 26 May via chartered flights to take part in the remaining matches of PSL 6. The players and staff members will be required to spend a few days in quarantine and will only be allowed to train after returning negative results for the virus.
PSL 6 is expected to resume from 5 June with the final scheduled to take place on 20 June.
