Nida Dar Set to Achieve a Landmark Feat

Pakistan women team’s star all-rounder, Nida Dar, is eyeing to become the first Pakistani cricketer to take 100 wickets in T20Is. Dar currently has 99 T20I wickets to her name and can join the elite group of cricketers to achieve the landmark in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on 30 June.

Only four bowlers in women’s cricket have achieved the feat of 100 wickets. West Indian bowler, Anisa Mohammad, Australian all-rounder, Ellyse Perry, South Africa’s Shabnum Ismail, and England’s Anya Shrusbole have done it for their countries. Dar is just one wicket away to become the fifth bowler in the world to achieve the historic landmark.

The 34-year old all-rounder made her debut in the T20 World Cup match against Sri Lanka in 2010. She has gone on to play 105 T20Is for Pakistan and has been one of the most consistent performers. She is currently the highest wicket-taker and the third-highest Pakistani run-scorer in T20Is, having scored 1,152 runs in 93 innings.

Dar said that her aim is to use her experience and help Pakistan win the upcoming limited-overs series against the West Indies.

“As an all-rounder and a senior player in the team, I am looking forward to executing my responsibility of winning the matches for my side. West Indies might be ranked sixth and Pakistan seventh, but the rankings do not really matter to me because the results are defined by how a team performs on the day,” she said.

“This series is a good opportunity for us to win here and it will certainly help us in our preparations for the three major events – World Cup qualifiers, Women’s World Cup, and Commonwealth Games,” she added.

Pakistan women’s team is currently on a historic tour of the West Indies where they will play a three-match T20I series, followed by a five-match ODI series.
