The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday rejected a petition and fined the petitioner Rs. 25,000 for seeking reversal of government’s order of blocking SIM cards, and social media IDs of those who refuse to get vaccinated against the COVID-19.
During the course of the hearing, the high court expressed displeasure over the petition against the government’s vaccination drive.

Justice Shafi Mohammad Siddiqui said that the government is concerned about every single citizen, including the lawyers present in the courtroom, adding that a covid-affected person affects 200 more people with him.
“The virus spreads quickly from one person to another; the government is concerned about your colleagues, family, and those around you.”

Earlier, the plaintiff, Advocate Sohail Hameed argued that the government has no authority to forcibly impose its decision on free citizens; if vaccination was mandatory, the required legislation should be enacted and the government should be prevented from blocking the SIM cards of the citizens.
To this, Justice Shafi remarked that how can the government be asked to legislate first when people’s lives are at stake. Later, he dismissed the plea with objection and fined the plaintiff Rs. 25,000.
