Islamabad to Achieve Herd Immunity From COVID-19 Soon: DHO

All indicators suggest that Islamabad is steadily moving towards achieving herd immunity, District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad Zaeem Zia has claimed.

Speaking to the media, DHO Islamabad said that nearly 70% of Islamabad’s residents have been partially or completely vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Coronavirus cases in the federal capital are also declining as more than 40,000 tests were conducted during the last 7 days while the positivity rate stood at 5.36% in comparison to the 7.04% from a week earlier.

DHO Islamabad added that experts have claimed that 90% of COVID-19 deaths are being reported among unvaccinated individuals, however, absolute data is unavailable and more research is needed into this.

Cases can be reported and will be reported but the number of critical cases will decrease significantly if everyone is vaccinated against the Coronavirus.

4,000 of Islamabad’s citizens received their second dose at four Mass Vaccination Centers (MVCs) in the city on Sunday while 21,624 citizens were administered first and second doses on Saturday.
