Suzuki Discontinues Swift and Suspends Cultus Bookings: Report

After boasting record-high quarterly profit, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has made its way into the headlines once again, as latest news reports suggest that the company has finally discontinued the 2nd Generation Swift and has also temporarily halted the bookings for the Cultus.

The news report came from Business Recorder, which also highlighted that the said development has been confirmed by several dealerships across the country.

As per the report, one of the dealers told the outlet that the semi-conductor chip shortage is the main culprit behind the suspension of Suzuki Cultus’s booking. The dealer added that the bookings for the Cultus have been halted for about a month.

The discontinuation of the Suzuki Swift – albeit long overdue – is also being viewed as a strategic move, as the company had been observing a steep decline in the sales figures of the 10-year old hatchback.

It is being speculated that PSMC is likely to debut 4th generation Suzuki Swift in Pakistan in the 1st quarter of the 2022 calendar year. A few photos of the CBUs of 4th generation swift in Pakistan have also been seen on several social media outlets in the past few months, hinting at the impending arrival of the vehicle.

Whatever the case might be, tough times seem to be afoot for the entire automotive industry of Pakistan, as the global supply chain issues continue to pound the automotive industry around the world.
