Afghanistan star, Rashid Khan, showered praises on legendary all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, and said that he really enjoyed watching him bowl. Rashid, who is celebrating his 23rd birthday today, talked about Afridi in a special video shared by the official account of the International Cricket Council (ICC) across various social media platforms.
Rashid said that Afridi had the best ‘slider’ and the ‘wrong one’ which troubled a lot of world-class batsmen. He said that Afridi’s pace and his variations made it very difficult for the batsmen to go on the backfoot and tackle the delivery and that is why he was highly successful in limited-overs cricket.
The 23-year old said that it is always a good sign for a leg-spinner when a batsman goes on the back foot and tries to play a cut shot as it provides the bowler a better chance to take his wicket. Rashid said that Afridi was one of the best at taking advantage of this particular situation.
Rashid is currently one of the leading spin bowlers in world cricket. He has taken 34 Test wickets, 140 ODI wickets, and 95 T20I wickets since his introduction in international cricket in 2015.
The flamboyant leg-spinner recently announced his decision to step down as captain of Afghanistan. He stated that he felt disrespected as he was not included in any conversation regarding the T20 World Cup squad selection. However, he will still be a part of Afghanistan’s T20 World Cup squad.
