Apple has asked all users to update their iPhones, iPads and Macs after the company detected serious security flaws that could potentially allow hackers to gain complete access to their devices.
The affected models include the iPhone 6S and later, iPad models include the 5th generation and later, all iPad Pro models, iPad Air 2, and Mac computers operating MacOS Monterey.
According to two security reports published by Apple, one vulnerability has been found in the WebKit, the browser engine that powers Safari and other applications, while the second flaw has been detected in the kernel, the backbone of the OS.
The first report stated that hackers could exploit the flaw in the Webkit if a susceptible device processed malicious web content, leading to the execution of an arbitrary code.
The second report noted that hackers could exploit the vulnerability in the kernel by executing arbitrary code with kernel privileges, opening up complete access to the devices.
Security experts have advised the users of the affected Apple devices to update their devices as soon as possible to avoid giving complete control of their devices to the hackers.
While Apple has not made any further comment on the security flaws, the company has sent updates to the affected models, stating that the latest update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users.
