Fuel Price Adjustment Charges to be Recovered in Full From Exempted Consumers

The recovery of Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) charges from a specific category of domestic electricity consumers has only been delayed for some time, and they will have to pay full FPA charges in the coming months.

It was revealed by the Minister for Energy, Khurram Dastagir while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday.

During the media briefing, the Minister clarified that domestic consumers who used 201-300 units of electricity in June had been temporarily exempted from paying FPA charges in their electricity bills for August.

He added that this slab of consumers will have to pay complete FPA charges. However, the FPA charges will be recovered in six installments, starting from October.

Last month, the federal government directed all electricity distribution companies in the country to recover FPA charges for June in the bills for August of all categories of domestic consumers except the protected consumers.

However, citizens strongly protested against this, and the federal government was forced to temporarily defer the recovery of FPA charges from consumers who used 201-300 units of electricity.
