PCB Approves Significant Budget Increase for Centrally Contracted Pakistan Women’s Team Players

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a substantial salary increase for centrally contracted Pakistan women’s team players in a landmark decision to uplift women’s cricket in the country.

Additionally, the PCB has approved a 240% increase in the annual budget for women’s cricket. These decisions were made during the 72nd meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Gaddafi Stadium, led by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The board’s decision will see the annual budget for women’s cricket rise from Rs70 million to Rs240 million, significantly boosting resources and support for female athletes in the country.

Central contracts for Pakistan women’s team players will also see a substantial increase, highlighting the board’s commitment to develop and promote women’s cricket.

Moreover, the BoG also earmarked Rs.450 million for the promotion and development of domestic cricket. Part of this initiative includes the PCB taking responsibility for 12 cricket grounds across the country and providing funds for the salaries of staff at 100 cricket grounds nationwide.

In preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan is set to host next year, the BoG approved a budget of Rs12,800 million for the upgrade of major cricket stadiums in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi.

This investment aims to ensure that the facilities meet international standards for the ICC Champions Trophy which is set to commence from February 19 with its finale to be held on March 9, next year.

Lahore will host seven matches, including the final. Karachi’s National Stadium will host the opening match and a semi-final. There will be a total of three matches in Karachi. Rawalpindi will host five matches, including a semi-final.
