Pakistan Football Federation announced their withdrawal on Thursday from the SAFF under-20 championship that was going to commence in August.
The SAFF under-20 championship was about to be held in Nepal Dashrath Stadium, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Maldives, and Bhutan. The event was scheduled from 18 August to 28 August.
Previously Pakistan was about to participate in this tournament as well but reportedly they have withdrawn due to the scarcity of funds which the Pakistan Football Federation seriously lacks.
India, Maldives, and Bhutan are in Group A whereas Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are in the other Group B. The final of the tournament will be held on 28 August.
Before the main event the new fixtures have been scheduled, Sri Lanka vs Nepal will be the first game of the group stage.
Last year Pakistan reached the final of the SAFF Under-19 Championship while the Pakistan under-16 team went to the semi-final of the SAFF Under-16 Championship.
The head coach who helped the SAFF under-19 team Shadab Iftikhar also went back to England to join his former team Wigan Athletic as an assistant coach in the team staff.
