Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq React After Sacking By PCB

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced changes to its national selection committee. In a statement released on Wednesday morning, the PCB confirmed that Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz have been removed from the national selection committee.

Following the announcement, Abdul Razzaq addressed his dismissal on the social media platform ‘X’. Razzaq questioned the decision-making process within the committee, posting, “If all were given equal power, how can one vote overpower the other 6 in the selection committee??”

Former pacer Wahab Riaz also shared his thoughts on ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, reflecting on his tenure and the collaborative nature of the selection process. “My time serving as a member of the selection committee for PCB comes to an end; I just want my people to know that I have served the game I love with faith and sincerity and have given 100 percent for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.” Riaz posted.

Moreover, the former cricketer added further, “It has been an honor to serve as part of the selection panel. To make collaborative decisions as part of the seven-man panel to select the national team was a privilege everyone’s vote carried equal weight, we made selection decisions as a team & shared the responsibility of that process equally.”

Riaz also expressed his support for the coaching staff, led by Gary Kirsten, and their vision for the team. “I am confident that the team plans the coaches have put together will ensure this team continues to grow into a dominant force as we move forward, and I wish them the best of luck on that journey,” he said.

In response to these changes, the PCB has announced the formation of a new selection committee. This marks a significant shift in the selection process, aiming to bring new perspectives to the team’s strategy and composition.

Pakistan had a dismal campaign at the T20 World Cup that led to these decisions and now the apex cricket board is trying to revamp the whole structure after the team’s debacle at the showpiece event.
