The Pakistan Shaheens kicked off their four-day match against Bangladesh A today with a commanding performance, led by Mohammad Huraira, who made a stunning unbeaten century. The match, held in Darwin, saw Pakistan Shaheens build a formidable foundation on Day 1 after being asked to bat first.
Openers Sahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Huraira forged an impressive 134-run partnership. Skipper Sahibzada Farhan contributed 66 runs from 83 deliveries, hitting 10 boundaries before falling to Ripon Mondol. Mohammad Huraira led Pakistan Shaheens from the front with an impressive unbeaten 161 from 203 deliveries, laced with 18 fours and one six. Umar Amin further fortified the innings with a brisk 54 off 77 deliveries, which included eight boundaries.
By the end of Day 1, Pakistan Shaheens were at a commanding 375 for 2. Kamran Ghulam also made a significant contribution, ending the day with a solid 74 off 114 balls, which included 11 boundaries.
Ripon Mondol was the standout bowler for Bangladesh A, taking the key wickets of both Farhan and Amin. Despite these breakthroughs, Bangladesh A struggled to contain the aggressive batting display from the Pakistan Shaheens.
This four-day match marks the first meeting between the development sides of Pakistan and Bangladesh since 2008, when the Pakistan Academy team toured Bangladesh and won both matches by eight wickets against the Bangladesh Academy side.
The First Class series will continue with the second match starting on Friday, July 26, followed by two One-Day matches on August 4 and 6, and the nine-team Top End T20 series from August 9-18.
