Kuwait to Change Domestic Labour Rules

Kuwait is undertaking a comprehensive revision of its regulations for recruiting overseas domestic labor to implement “necessary amendments” designed to maximize worker protection and welfare, according to a senior official from the Kuwaiti manpower authority. This initiative aims to address existing gaps in the current system and ensure that domestic laborers recruited from abroad are treated fairly and with respect.

The proposed changes are part of a broader effort to align Kuwait’s labor practices with international standards, reflecting the country’s commitment to upholding human rights and promoting ethical labor practices.

The Kuwaiti government recognizes the critical role that domestic workers play in the country’s economy and social fabric. By implementing these reforms, they aim to create a safer and more supportive environment for these workers, which will benefit the laborers and contribute to the overall stability and prosperity of Kuwaiti households.

These amendments are part of Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to enhance its labor market regulations and improve the treatment of all foreign workers within its borders. The government hopes that these changes will serve as a model for other countries in the region and demonstrate Kuwait’s leadership in promoting fair labor practices and protecting the rights of vulnerable worker populations.
