Pakistan Railways Reports Sharp Drop in Accidents

Pakistan Railways has reported only six minor accidents with no casualties across the entire railway network over six months, following the implementation of stringent precautionary measures.

“Only two train accidents occurred in September, none in October, and four in November due to the department’s effective steps,” an official from the Railway Ministry told APP.

The significant reduction in accidents is attributed to efforts aimed at reducing trespassing at unmanned level crossings and unauthorized locations, the official added.

“Our staff continuously monitors the railway tracks nationwide and conducts thorough inspections of the trains, prioritizing passenger safety,” he said. The department has also taken several steps to improve railway services, particularly focusing on track maintenance as a top priority.

The official mentioned that train punctuality has improved, with all trains being monitored, reviewed, and rectified. To further assist passengers, a mobile app called “Pak Rail Live” has been launched for real-time train tracking.

In response to a question, he stated that first aid posts have been established in assistant station masters’ offices and police helpline centers at all railway stations, where paramedical staff or staff trained in first aid are available around the clock with first aid boxes and emergency kits.

Additionally, first aid boxes and emergency kits are available with guards on all running trains, who are trained to provide first aid to ill passengers.
