Ex-Chief Selector Wahab Riaz Sent to Maldives for Coaching Sessions by PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the recently sacked chief selector Wahab Riaz will attend the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) coaching workshop in the Maldives. He will be joined by the current National Cricket Academy head coach Shahid Anwar.

Scheduled for July 29-30, the workshop will focus on the latest coaching techniques and strategies aimed at talent development at the grassroots level. The PCB emphasized the importance of this event in a statement, noting its potential to enhance the skills and knowledge of Pakistani coaches.

“Former Test cricketer Wahab Riaz and former international cricketer Shahid Anwar, who currently serves as the head coach at the National Cricket Academy, will participate in the workshop,” the PCB stated.

In addition to the workshop, the PCB announced that Dr. Imran Abbas, General Manager of Academies, will attend a four-day ICC Level-2 Tutors training course in Malé, which started yesterday. This course is part of the ICC’s educational program designed to equip member countries with qualified Level-2 tutors, who will subsequently train other coaches within their respective nations.

The ICC has appointed former Pakistan cricketer Iqbal Sikander and former Bangladesh Test captain Amin-ul-Islam to conduct the course. Their expertise is expected to provide valuable insights and training methods that can be integrated into Pakistan’s cricketing infrastructure.

The participation of Wahab Riaz, Shahid Anwar, and Dr. Imran Abbas in these international coaching and training programs signifies the PCB’s proactive approach to strengthening the country’s cricketing foundations.
