Gold Medalist Forced to Sleep in a Park at Paris

Gold medalist at the Paris Olympics 2024, Thomas Ceccon was spotted catching some Z’s in a park inside the Olympic Village in Paris, after complaining about the living conditions provided to the world’s top athletes.

Thomas Ceccon, who recently earned the title of “world’s sexiest swimmer” at the Paris Olympics, was seen sprawled out on a white towel under a tree on Saturday. In a bid to escape the stifling heat and lackluster accommodations, the Italian swimming sensation took matters into his own hands, opting for a nap in the park. Clad in Italy-crested shorts and with his trainers neatly placed at his feet, the 23-year-old looked the picture of comfort as he lay on his left side, seeking respite from the fatigue that had plagued him.

The photo, posted by Saudi rower Husein Alireza, quickly went viral, showing Ceccon in a state of serene slumber, seemingly unbothered by his unconventional sleeping arrangement.

Just days before, Ceccon had publicly lambasted the subpar standards of the Olympic Village, joining a growing chorus of athletes voicing their dissatisfaction. “There is no air conditioning in the village, it’s hot, the food is bad,” Ceccon lamented. “Many athletes move for this reason: it’s not an alibi or an excuse, it’s the reality of what perhaps not everybody knows.”

Despite these grievances, Ceccon managed to clinch gold in the 100m backstroke on Monday. However, his frustrations boiled over after he failed to make the 200m backstroke final on Wednesday, attributing his performance to the inadequate living conditions. “I’m disappointed that I didn’t make the final but I was too tired. It’s hard to sleep both at night and in the afternoon,” he confessed.
