The highly awaited visit of Bangladesh’s A cricket team to Pakistan this month has been cast into uncertainty due to widespread protests erupting in Bangladesh, resulting in a delay in the team’s departure for Islamabad.
Originally scheduled to arrive in Pakistan’s capital early Wednesday morning, the Bangladesh A team was set to compete in two four-day matches and three ODI matches from August 10 to 27.
However, the persistent unrest in Bangladesh, which began last week, has raised significant doubts about the feasibility of the tour.
The situation in Bangladesh took a dramatic turn as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stepped down from her position amid mass protests demanding her resignation.
This political turmoil has further complicated the logistics and heightened safety concerns associated with Bangladesh’s A team tour to Pakistan.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that the men’s A cricket team’s departure for Islamabad has been postponed by 48 hours due to unforeseen circumstances.
Both cricket boards have been in constant communication over the past two days and will continue to work together to revise the tour itinerary. Further details are expected to be announced soon.
The tour’s original schedule included the first four-day match starting on August 10, followed by the second on August 17. The three One Day Internationals (ODIs) were set for August 23, 25, and 27.
Despite the delays, both boards are committed to ensuring the tour proceeds as smoothly as possible amidst the challenging circumstances.
