Arshad Nadeem made history at the Olympic Games, with a stunning javelin throw of 92.97 meters. His throw not only set a new personal best but also marked the longest distance in the event’s history.
Neeraj Chopra registered an 89.45 meters throw whereas the Grenada Javelin thrower Anderson Peters 87.87 metres in the final round.
This was Arshad Nadeem’s personal best and he amassed his 90 metre record that he achieved in the World Athletics Championship.
In his third throw he registered 88.72 metres throw falling short of his personal best in the second throw. The Pakistani Javelin thrower is in pole position to win the Olympic Gold.
The top 12 athletes have advanced to the final, and five out of six throwers in group B qualified directly to the final round while 4 out of 6 athletes reached the 84-meter mark and qualified directly.
Arshad Nadeem is seen as Pakistan’s best hope, having won a silver medal at the World Championships in 2023 and at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He also made history by winning a gold medal and becoming the first Pakistani athlete to achieve this feat since 1962.
If Arshad wins the Olympic Gold this will be the first time since 1988 that a Pakistani athlete will win an individual medal and this will be the first time that a Pakistani will win an individual Gold medal.
