Renovation work at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium is underway in preparation for the 2025 Champions Trophy. It will host a major chunk of the competition’s matches including all matches of India if they visit Pakistan for the event.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has ambitious plans to elevate Gaddafi Stadium to the standards of Dubai’s premier cricket facilities.
PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi recently toured Dubai’s stadium, carefully inspecting its various sections, including the dressing rooms and VIP areas, to gain insights into the planned upgrades of Gaddafi Stadium.
Following his visit, Naqvi recommended significant enhancements to Gaddafi Stadium, focusing on improving the overall experience for both players and spectators.
The renovation work is set to begin on Monday, with the main structure already dismantled to make way for the new design of the iconic venue.
PCB aims to address long-standing concerns about the stadium’s amenities, which have been frequently highlighted by fans.
The upgrades will include modernized dressing rooms, enhanced seating arrangements, and improved VIP areas, ensuring the venue meets international standards. The cricket board has set an ambitious timeline, to complete the renovations before the end of the year.
This revamp is part of a broader effort to boost Pakistan’s cricket infrastructure, particularly as the country prepares to host major international tournaments like the Champions Trophy.
Successful completion of this project would solidify Gaddafi Stadium’s status as a world-class cricket venue, ready to host some of the biggest matches in the future.
