Bangladesh All-Rounder Withdraws From Pakistan Tour

Pace bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has withdrawn from Bangladesh A’s upcoming Pakistan tour, citing mental exhaustion.

Saifuddin, who was included in the squad for the second match of the two-game red-ball series as well as the white-ball matches, informed the selectors of his decision via email on Thursday.

The 27-year-old expressed his need for a two-month break from all forms of cricket, citing recent disappointments, including his exclusion from Bangladesh’s ICC T20 World Cup squad and his inability to participate in the Global T20 in Canada due to political unrest in the country.

“Due to these matters, I want to keep myself away from all forms of cricket for the next two months. Hopefully, you will take the matter in a positive way,” Saifuddin wrote in his email.

Although Saifuddin had been granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to play in the Global T20, he was unable to travel after suffering a rib injury during a gym session just two days before his departure. The BCB advised him against participating in the Canadian tournament due to the injury.

The Bangladesh A team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Saturday, August 10, for a series of two four-day matches and three 50-over matches against Pakistan Shaheens.

Saifuddin’s absence will be a notable one for the squad as they prepare for the challenging Pakistan tour ahead.
