German Embassy in Islamabad Limits Student Visa Processing

The German Embassy in Islamabad has stated that the number of student visa applications for the winter semester exceeds their processing capacity. As a result, only the most qualified applications are likely to be processed.

In recent weeks, many students have faced long delays in visa interviews, even though they have secured university placements in Germany.

Students reported that the embassy’s visa appointment system, which opened on May 21 for winter semester admissions, has been problematic. They claimed that appointments for regular processing are either unavailable or hard to get, while only fast-track applications seem to be receiving attention.

The embassy stated that, due to the high volume of applications and limited resources, it will likely only process visa applications for the most deserving students. This includes those with public scholarships or exceptional academic achievements.

The embassy recognized the high demand from Pakistani students for German study visas and admitted that their current capacity is insufficient. They assured that efforts are underway to improve their processing capabilities. The embassy expressed hope to improve the situation in the upcoming academic years and is committed to addressing current limitations to better accommodate future applicants.
