Pakistan’s Preparations for SAFF Under-17 Championship Affected Due to Ground Lease Issue in Abbottabad

The Pakistan U-17 football team’s preparations for the upcoming SAFF U-17 Championship have encountered a significant setback following the abrupt cancellation of the lease agreement for the Kunj Football Ground by the Municipal Administration.

The championship, set to begin on September 18, is a crucial event for the young athletes, who are now left without a proper training venue.

The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has voiced its strong objections to the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Abbottabad’s decision, labeling it as unlawful and unilateral.

The lease, which was initially established by the Tehsil Council Abbottabad on September 11, 2006, was meant to be in effect for 30 years, with an end date of September 11, 2036.

However, the sudden termination of this lease agreement of the ground has raised concerns about the adherence to legal procedures.

The PFF has highlighted that this unexpected move disrupts the team’s crucial training schedule ahead of an important international tournament.

The federation is seeking immediate intervention to resolve the issue, stressing the importance of upholding the terms of the lease and ensuring that the team can continue its preparations without further hindrance.

As the SAFF U-17 Championship approaches, the situation remains tense, with the PFF urging local authorities to reconsider their decision and allow the team to utilize the Kunj Football Ground as originally agreed.
