Valencia footballer Rafa Mir has been arrested over alleged sexual assault involving two women, leading to his absence from training on Tuesday.
The Sevilla loanee was detained as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving two women at his private residence. Another man has also been arrested in connection with the incident.
The victims, aged 25 and 21, reportedly required medical attention following the assault, according to reports from MARCA.
Mir spent the night in custody at the Valencia Command on Calamocha Street, where he is currently being questioned. He is expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday to determine his legal status.
The incident is believed to have occurred during a private party organized by Mir at his home near Valencia, prompting neighbors to alert authorities.
The victims later filed complaints against the Valencia footballer at the Civil Guard barracks in Massamagrell. Investigators have also interviewed a witness, a 21-year-old friend of one of the victims.
Valencia CF has acknowledged Mir’s arrest in an official statement but refrained from further comment due to the ongoing investigation. The club has pledged full cooperation with the legal process.
Rafa Mir joined Valencia this summer on loan from Sevilla, following persistent efforts by the club to secure his services. He has appeared in three of Valencia’s four league matches this season, though his future with the club now appears uncertain.
