Ravichandran Ashwin Opens Up On Pakistan Cricket’s Decline After Whitewash Against Bangladesh

Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed shock at Pakistan’s recent 2-0 Test series loss to Bangladesh, saying it marks a significant decline from the team’s form a decade ago.

The Tigers secured a 10-wicket win in the first Test in Rawalpindi, followed by a six-wicket victory in the second Test, handing Pakistan a rare home series whitewash.

Ashwin, known for his insightful cricket analysis, drew comparisons between the current Pakistan team and its former stalwarts, including Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan.

“It wasn’t possible 10 years ago. With Misbah, Younis, even when they played in the UAE, it was tough to beat Pakistan,” Ashwin said.

He highlighted the contributions of key players like Yasir Shah and left-arm spinners who made Pakistan a formidable team during that period.

The all-rounder pointed to the current dismal record of Pakistan, who have only won five matches this year while losing 16.

“Seeing where they are right now, I cannot believe it,” Ashwin added, reflecting on the sharp downturn in Pakistan’s cricketing fortunes.

The decline has raised eyebrows, with many attributing it to inconsistent team selections, lack of leadership, and fading home advantage.

For a cricketing powerhouse like Pakistan, such losses are rare, especially at home, and Ashwin’s comments add to the growing concern about the team’s deterioration.
