Islamabad’s Popo Under-17 football team is gearing up for a crucial three-match series against Afghanistan U17, beginning October 5.

The first game will take place at Ghazi Stadium in Kabul, marking the start of what promises to be an intense international face-off between the two youth squads.

The second match is scheduled for October 7, also in Kabul, giving the Afghan side a two-match home advantage. These back-to-back encounters are expected to test the Popo U-17 team’s resilience and adaptability, as they face a spirited Afghan side on their home turf.

Following the two away fixtures, the Popo U17 team will return to Islamabad for the third and final match of the series. The home game, set for October 12 at Jinnah Stadium, offers Popo a chance to gain home support and conclude the series on a high note.

This series is not only crucial for both teams in terms of experience and skill development but also serves as an important platform for youth exposure and development.

Fans will be keen to see how the young athletes from both nations perform, with many expecting the matches to deliver exciting action.

Recently 12 players of the Popo football club were selected for the training camp of Pakistan national under-17 team for SAFF Championship U-17 tournament which will commence from September 20.

All eyes will be on Popo U17 as they seek to make their mark in international youth football.
