The participation of Pakistan’s national football team in the SAFF Under-17 Championship 2024, scheduled to take place in Bhutan, is uncertain as the team’s departure remains subject to government approval.
Sources close to the matter reveal that the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has yet to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the team, leaving preparations hanging in the balance.
The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has been directed by the PSB to resubmit the necessary documents for review, adding further delays to the process.
Despite this, the PFF has reportedly secured tickets for the players in anticipation of their departure on September 16 from Islamabad.
The team has been undergoing intensive training at Kunj Football Ground in Abbottabad, with an additional training session planned for Islamabad in the coming days.
The coaching staff is working diligently to prepare the squad for the regional competition, but without the required NOC, their participation remains in jeopardy.
SAFF Under-17 Championship is set to take place in Thimphu, Bhutan, from September 20 to 30, featuring teams from across South Asia.
Pakistan’s national team is eager to showcase its talent on this international platform, but the clock is ticking for the necessary approval to be granted.
Sources indicate that all logistical arrangements are in place, awaiting only the final go-ahead from the authorities.
