PCB Set to Upgrade Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium to International Standards

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is poised to take full control of Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium, aiming to upgrade it to international standards.

This proposal, discussed during the Board of Governors’ (BoG) 74th meeting on Thursday, could see the venue return to hosting international series after a significant period.

At the same meeting, the BoG reviewed the start of the Champions One-Day Cup, which kicked off at the Iqbal Stadium with an opening match between the Markhors and Panthers.

The PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, was lauded for his efforts in securing partnerships with prestigious organizations for the tournament, which features some of Pakistan’s top cricketers.

The BoG also received an update on infrastructure projects at various venues, discussing progress in design and construction, so that Pakistan can host the ICC Champions Trophy next year.

Members expressed their full support for these efforts, noting the importance of the projects in enhancing Pakistan’s cricketing profile.

Chairman Naqvi extended his best wishes to the teams participating in the Champions Cup, emphasizing the tournament’s role in strengthening domestic cricket and nurturing new talent.

He acknowledged the enthusiasm of Faisalabad’s residents for the tournament, highlighting the PCB’s commitment to provide top-tier facilities for spectators.

Naqvi also hinted at plans to expand such tournaments to other cities, ensuring that cricket fans across Pakistan can enjoy high-quality matches in the future.
