In a recent video of the ProSports Podcast, New Zealand cricketer Mark Chapman praised Pakistan’s batting maestro Babar Azam, calling him “one of the best batters in the world.”
Chapman shared insights into his camaraderie with Pakistani players, particularly highlighting the value of learning from Babar.
“I’ve got some great friendships with a few of the Pakistan players,” Chapman said, recalling interactions during international tours.
“Me and Fakhar Zaman have had breakfast a couple of times in the last series. I’ve also sat with Babar on the plane a couple of times, and we just talk about batting.” Chapman further stated.
While talking about his camaraderie with Babar Azam the Kiwi batter stated, “You know he is a wealth of knowledge he is up there in the world with some of the best batters so any opportunity you get to sit next to a guy like that for an hour.”
Chapman didn’t hold back his admiration for the Pakistani captain, calling him a wealth of knowledge. He emphasized the importance of learning from top players, stating, “You’d be silly not to pick his brains.”
The Kiwi also mentioned his growing friendship with Shadab Khan, referencing their time playing together in Sri Lanka at the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
“Shadab too you know we have played in Sri Lanka against each other just recently at the LPL and we shared some experiences.” “We shared some experiences, It’s funny you grow up in different worlds, but we’re all playing the same game,” he remarked.
Chapman’s comments showcase the close relationships that can form between players across international borders, with mutual respect and learning being key benefits.
For Chapman, the opportunity to connect with cricketers like Babar and Shadab has been both educational and personally enriching during the international tours with Pakistan.
