The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is set to hold its provincial and territorial elections on September 19 and 20 in Lahore. These elections will determine the leadership within the District Football Associations (DFAs) of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
The PFF provnicial elections are divided over two days, with voting for ICT, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and Azad Jammu & Kashmir scheduled for September 19. The following day, September 20, will see the elections for Punjab, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The winning candidates from these regions will play a crucial role in shaping the future of football in Pakistan.
Among the most closely watched contests is the race for the President of KPK Football, where Syed Zahir Shah and Col Muhammad Nauman are considered strong contenders. Both candidates, along with Muhammad Ashraf Khan from Punjab, successfully appealed against bans, allowing them to participate in the elections.
The election process began with the release of the preliminary voting list on August 28. Candidates were required to submit their nomination papers by August 30, followed by the publication of the initial list of candidates on September 3. An appeal window was open until September 8, providing candidates the opportunity to address any concerns or disputes. The final list of candidates was announced on September 16, 2024, setting the stage for the elections.
The elected officials will be tasked with implementing policies and initiatives to enhance the sport’s infrastructure, talent development, and competitive standards across Pakistan.
