Mohammad Abbas Eyes Comeback in Pakistan’s Test Squad

Senior fast bowler of the national team, Mohammad Abbas, has once again set his hopes on returning to the Pakistani team.

In an exclusive interview, Mohammad Abbas said that his priority is Pakistan, and he is waiting for an opportunity from the selection committee.

He mentioned that no one from the coaches, management, or selection committee has contacted him regarding the Champions One Day Cup, although he did receive a call from the Sialkot region’s trainer to come and take a fitness test by September 3rd.

If he passes, he will be included among the 150 players. The fast bowler stated that whenever the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) calls him, he will be ready to serve Pakistan.

However, Abbas could not participate in the Champions Cup due to his commitments in English-county cricket.

The 34-year-old stated that he had a contract with an English county until September and matches were ongoing, so he couldn’t go.

In response to a question, he claimed that he is getting plenty of opportunities to bowl in county matches, he is working hard on his fitness, and his form is good. However, selection matters are not within his control.

The pacer said that only the PCB selection committee can explain why, despite his excellent performances, he has not been included in the national squad again.

‘I am doing everything within my control, and my performance in domestic cricket is also good.’ he remarked.

The fast bowler, who recently completed 700 first-class wickets, stated that only five fast bowlers before him had achieved this feat.

Regarding the issue of pace, he said that precision, line, and length, are more important than pace in the longer format of the game and that is the reason he has been successful in taking countless wickets in Test cricket.
