The City Traffic Police have implemented strict measures to ensure motorbike riders wear helmets. Motorcyclists are now required to show their helmets when submitting a challan to any traffic or ticketing officer.
Without this, their motorcycles will not be returned. A spokesman for the City Traffic Police stated that a full-scale crackdown has begun against riders not wearing helmets. CTO Beenish Fatima confirmed that in addition to issuing fines, motorcycles are being held at local police stations.
To retrieve their bikes, riders must show their helmets. Failure to do so will result in the bike being withheld. The purpose of this new policy is to improve road safety and encourage compliance with traffic regulations. The CTO urged citizens to follow the rules, wear helmets, and support efforts to make roads safer.
Additionally, the police have fully renovated the Cantt driving school, now operating in two shifts, including night sessions. This facility serves the Sadar, Cantt, and Rawal Road areas.
In collaboration with district police, the City Traffic Police have also conducted checks on public service vehicles. Over the last 25 days, 4,833 vehicles were fined, and 636 impounded for various violations, with fines totaling Rs 5.2 million.
Legal action has been taken against drivers lacking licenses, and several vehicles with illegal modifications were also impounded.
