Major Changes Expected in Pakistan Squad Ahead of England Test Series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to announce its squad for the upcoming Test series against England.

Sources indicate that three to four players from the squad that faced Bangladesh, in the 2-0 whitewash at home, may be dropped. Shan Masood is expected to retain his role as captain for the Pakistan-England Test series at home.

Head coach Jason Gillespie, who recently concluded a connection camp aimed at addressing team unity and performance issues, is actively involved in the selection process. He is currently in Faisalabad, alongside selection committee members Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq, to assess player performances in the ongoing Champions Cup.

The selection committee will finalize a list of potential players after the Champions Cup final, scheduled for Sunday. Once the list is approved by the PCB chairman, the official announcement will be made.

The Pakistani squad is set to assemble in Multan on October 2, coinciding with the arrival of the English team. While the visitors will enjoy a rest day on October 3, Pakistan will commence their preparations with an intensive training session.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has already announced a 17-member squad for the series, led by captain Ben Stokes. The squad includes a mix of experienced players and promising talents, such as Rehan Ahmed, Gus Atkinson, and Shoaib Bashir. Key players like Joe Root, Ollie Pope, and Chris Woakes are also part of the lineup.
