Indian Pilot Refuses to Fly After His Duty Time Ended

An Indian Airlines pilot refused to fly after his duty hours had ended, causing a five-hour delay for passengers. The incident occurred on September 24 on a flight from Pune to Bengaluru, as reported by Indian media.

The situation gained widespread attention after a video of the passengers on the plane went viral on social media. The pilot explained that he could not continue flying as his regulated flying hours had already been completed. This sparked frustration among the passengers, who then shared the video online.

Following the backlash on social media, aviation expert Sanjay Lazar clarified that global regulations strictly control the working hours of pilots and crew for safety reasons. He emphasized that, unlike factory workers, pilots cannot be called for additional duty beyond their allowed hours without facing severe penalties.
