Nvidia is set to announce its next generation of RTX GPUs at the upcoming CES 2025 event at the start of January (Jan 7-10).
The event will be hosted by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang as the new “Blackwell” RTX 5000 series of graphics cards are meant to show off next-generation technologies for PC gamers. The initial lineup will include the RTX 5090 32 GB, RTX 5080 16 GB, and the RTX 5070 12 GB.
This launch will follow after a series of previous Nvidia GPU announcements at CES. The RTX 40 Super lineup became official at CES 2024 while the RTX 4070 Ti arrived at CES 2023. The monster RTX 4090 Ti made its debut at CES 2022 while the RTX 3060 was unveiled at CES 2021.
Rumored Specifications
As expected, the RTX 5090 32 GB will be the top-tier model for now, expected to feature the PG144/145-SKU30 PCB design with the GB202-300-A1 GPU core. As the name says, it will come with 32 GB of GDDR7 VRAM capacity which will run on a 512-bit interface. It will have new memory compression techniques and a new L3 cache. It will have a 600W TBP rating, though this is not an actual representation of its power consumption while gaming or other workload.

The tech giant plans to enhance the PCB back-drilling process, a move aimed at boosting signal integrity between the GPU and the GDDR7 VRAM. Earlier reports have indicated that these new cards will feature a 14-layer PCB design.
In terms of power delivery, Nvidia is maintaining consistency across most of the lineup. The majority of RTX 50 series cards will continue to use the single 12V-2×6 power connector interface. However, select high-end models, specifically some variants of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, are expected to adopt a dual 16-pin connector configuration.
All cards in the lineup will be fully compatible with PCIe 5.0 and will support DisplayPort 2.1a, offering an impressive 80 Gbps bandwidth for unparalleled display capabilities.
