Dubai Generates Rs. 52 Billion Auctioning Fancy Number Plates

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently held its 116th auction of special car number plates, raising an impressive Dh69.137 million. The auction, held at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, featured 90 distinguished plates with combinations of two to five digits, falling under codes such as AA, L, N, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z.

The highest bid of the auction was for the license plate AA17, sold for Dh8.02 million. Following this, Y1000 fetched Dh4.55 million, V96 was sold for Dh4.1 million, and AA333 garnered Dh3.01 million.

RTA offers these exclusive plates through both public and online auctions, ensuring transparency, fairness, and equal opportunities for all enthusiasts. These plates often carry personal significance, representing key moments or milestones in the lives of their owners.

Each participant in the auction was required to have a traffic file in Dubai, provide a security cheque of Dh25,000 payable to the RTA, and pay a non-refundable auction fee of Dh120. Additionally, the sale of these number plates includes a five percent value-added tax (VAT).
