The Punjab government has issued an official notification declaring a sudden holiday for all public and private educational institutions across the province. According to the directive, all colleges and universities will remain closed on October 18, 2024.
This decision comes in response to widespread student protests that have erupted across Punjab following a disturbing incident at a prominent private college in Lahore. The protests were triggered by an alleged rape incident on campus, which has sparked outrage among students and the broader public.
The protests have led to significant disruptions in the academic process, prompting the government to take immediate action to ensure public safety. Students in major cities across the province have taken to the streets, demanding justice for the alleged victim and stringent measures to ensure the safety of students within educational institutions.
The closure of institutions is aimed at preventing further escalation of unrest and ensuring the safety of students, faculty, and staff. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to make further announcements regarding the reopening of institutions based on the evolving circumstances.
This alleged incident has ignited a broader conversation around the safety and security of students in educational settings, with many calling for reforms to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
Further details on the situation are expected as investigations into the incident continue.

No reform is better than punishing the offender.
Bunch of clowns called government has only one solution to every issue… Shut everything….the roads, the markets, the transport, the educational insititutions and the tongues… Draconian laws in place😡😡
When you have Stone Age laws this is what happens. As soon as case was reported law must require immediate medical examination.
In case of death no one should be buried until Dr issues death certificate to ascertain cause of death. Family should not be allowed to deny examinations, especially when it’s female. Family could forgive person, but state must prosecute all murders.
