‘Not Cool’: WWE Wrestler Carlito Faces Backlash For Racist Remark on Iyo Sky

This week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw took an unexpected turn when Carlito made a controversial racist remark on Iyo Sky that has since sparked outrage among fans and within the wrestling community.

The incident occurred following a meeting between WWE official Adam Pearce and Damage CTRL members Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane. As Carlito entered the office, he referred to the two Japanese wrestlers as Chinese, a comment that many perceived as casually racist.

The remark quickly drew criticism from viewers and wrestling professionals alike, including independent star Kevin Ku, who expressed his disapproval of Carlito’s comment. The incident has raised questions about whether the line was scripted or an ad-lib by Carlito. According to a report by Fightful Select, the line was not part of the Raw script, with at least one WWE staff member expressing disbelief that it was said.

WWE’s decision to exclude the remark from digital clips of the segment further suggests it was unscripted. The edited version of the segment begins with a conversation between Carlito and Pearce, omitting the controversial line.

Internally, the reaction within WWE has been negative, though it remains unclear if Carlito or anyone else will face disciplinary action. As of now, neither Carlito, Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane, nor any WWE representatives have publicly addressed the situation.

This incident is not the first time Iyo Sky has encountered such issues. During her time in NXT, Sky was subjected to harassment by a fan who told her to “go back to China.” Iyo Sky’s quick-witted response, “I’m Japanese b***h,” was met with applause from the audience, highlighting her resilience in the face of ignorance.
